Ottawa River, Chaudière Island and Rideau Canal Bike Tour

This 1-hour bike tour allows you to see Ottawa, Gatineau and the waters that separate these cities in one short trip. You’ll be cycling on both sides of the Rideau Canal and the Ottawa River all while crossing the bridges and waterfalls in between. Along the way you’ll find yourself in front of beautiful lookouts that display The Parliament of Canada and the water surrounding it. During this journey, your knowledgeable tour guide will shed light on the history and the purpose of the waterways, buildings and bridges you encounter. Since you will be a part of a small organized group, you’ll have the chance to interact and ask any questions to your friendly guide.

Major’s Hill Park
Discover both Ottawa and Gatineau and the waters that separate each province.
1 | RentABike
We’ll be starting the tour near the end of the Rideau Canal at RentABike’s conveniently located shop.
2 | Major’s Hill Park
Bike through downtown’s Major’s Hill Park which follows the Rideau Canal and the Ottawa River.
3 | Alexandra Bride
Cycle over the Alexandra bridge, the 500+ metre bridge separating Ottawa and Gatineau.
4 | Ottawa River (Quebec)
Ride on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River to make your way to Chaudiere Falls.
5 | Chaudiere Falls
Watch and learn about the Ottawa-Gatineau Chaudière Falls and its contribution to clean energy.
6 | Ottawa River (Ontario)
Ride on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River to make your way to the Rideau Canal.
7 | Rideau Canal
Slowly make your way back by riding along both sides of the world-renown Rideau Canal.
8 | RentABike
You’ll be finishing your tour near the end of the Rideau Canal at your starting location.
The Ottawa River and Rideau Canal loop was great on the vehicle free pathways. So accessible from downtown. Bikes were new and the guide excellent.
